There has always been a sort of ‘magical’ appeal which draws vacationers to the islands of the United States Virgin Islands. The airport is capable of accommodating jets of any size and receives regularly scheduled nonstop air service from San Juan, Puerto Rico, and numerous U.S cities including, Miami, New York, Boston, Chicago, Washington DC, Charlotte and Atlanta.
The island of St. John is twenty minutes from St. Thomas and only accessible by passenger ferry, car ferry, private boat or helicopter. Methods of transportation within the U.S. Virgin Islands is via automobile, bus, taxi, ferry boat, or private hire boat charter. Rental vehicles are widely available throughout the U.S. Virgin Islands and non-residents may rent and purchase vehicles in the U.S. Virgin Islands without limitation or extra charges. As a reminder, driving is done on the left side of the road. Of all the islands in the US Virgin Islands, St. John is considered to be the most popular vacation destination in the Caribbean! Annually, St. John hosts many thousands of vacationers from all over the world who come for the relaxing climate, world class beaches and overall intimacy which is only available on this beautiful island paradise!
St. John is the smallest & most idyllic of the three US Virgin Islands and is best known for its dozens of post card perfect white sand beaches, turquoise bays abounding in colorful corals & rainbows of tropical fish & endless vistas of green velvet hills. Only nine miles long & four miles wide, two thirds of the island is protected by the Virgin Islands National Park, so its spectacular beaches & untouched forests will remain pristine and natural for generations to come. There are tours of the National Park by Jeep or safari bus & hikes on spectacular trails led by Park Rangers who enrich the experience with talks on the island’s history & geology as well as its flora & fauna.
